About Peace for Women – West Nile
Peace for Women – West Nile was founded in 2022 by a group of passionate women leaders who recognized the increasing challenges affecting women, girls, youth, refugees, and vulnerable populations in Uganda's West Nile region.The founders envisioned an organization that would provide a safe platform where women could raise their voices, influence decisions, develop leadership skills, and work collectively to address the root causes of poverty, gender inequality, gender-based violence, social exclusion, conflict, and displacement.Since then, the organization has grown into a trusted community partner, working closely with local leaders, development partners, government institutions, civil society organizations, and community members to create meaningful and lasting change.Peace for Women – West Nile (PFW-WN) is a women-led, community-based organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, and young people to become agents of positive change. Since our establishment in 2022, we have worked alongside communities across West Nile to promote gender equality, social justice, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.We believe that when women and girls are empowered, entire communities thrive. Through grassroots initiatives, advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement, we create opportunities that enable individuals to live with dignity, resilience, and hope.

2022
- Peace for Women – West Nile was established by women leaders in West Nile.
- Registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
- Registered with Arua City Community Development Office.
2023
- Expanded community outreach activities.
- Strengthened women and youth leadership initiatives.
- Increased advocacy against Gender-Based Violence.
2024
- Enhanced partnerships with government institutions and development organizations.
- Expanded refugee and host community engagement programs.
- Increased community mobilization and awareness campaigns.

Why We Were Founded
Peace for Women – West Nile exists to address the systemic barriers that prevent women and marginalized communities from realizing their full potential.We were founded to:
- Empower women and girls through education, leadership, and economic opportunities.
- Prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
- Promote peaceful coexistence within refugee and host communities.
- Strengthen community resilience against poverty and social injustice.
- Support youth as innovators, leaders, and drivers of community development.
- Promote inclusive participation in decision-making processes.

Refugee and Host Community Engagement
West Nile is home to one of the largest refugee populations in Africa. Peace for Women – West Nile works to strengthen peaceful coexistence between refugee and host communities by creating opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and shared development. Our interventions promote:
