Empowering Women. Transforming Communities. The Women Rise Initiative is a flagship programme of Peace for Women – West Nile that empowers women and girls through psychosocial support, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, leadership development, and community engagement. The initiative helps women overcome poverty, inequality, and social exclusion while building their confidence, resilience, and economic independence. Our Focus Areas
- Women's Economic Empowerment: Supporting entrepreneurship, vocational skills, financial literacy, business mentorship, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
- Leadership Development: Equipping women with leadership, advocacy, and decision-making skills to actively participate in community development.
- Psychosocial Support: Providing safe spaces, counseling, trauma healing, and mental health support for vulnerable women and girls.
- Financial Inclusion: Promoting savings, access to community financing, and sustainable livelihoods through VSLAs.
- Community Engagement: Working with communities to promote gender equality, challenge harmful social norms, and strengthen women's participation in development.
Our Impact The Women Rise Initiative has contributed to:
- Supporting 180 women to start or strengthen businesses.
- Strengthening Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
- Reaching over 2,000 women, girls, youth, refugees, and host community members through empowerment programmes.
- Providing psychosocial support and livelihood opportunities for vulnerable women.
- Promoting women's leadership and community participation.
