At Peace for Women–West Nile (PfW-WN), we believe that education is a powerful pathway to equality, empowerment, peace, and sustainable development. Every girl and young person deserves the opportunity to access quality education, develop their potential, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
Our Education programme focuses on supporting vulnerable and marginalised girls and young people to access, remain in and benefit from education, while addressing the social, economic and gender-related barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
Our Approach
We use a community-led and peer-centred approach that recognises young people as active participants in their own learning and development. Through mentorship, peer support, safe spaces and community engagement, we create opportunities for girls to learn from one another, build confidence and develop the skills they need to shape their futures.
Peer-to-Peer Learning Project
One of our key initiatives under the Education thematic area is the Peer-to-Peer Learning Project
The project creates safe and supportive learning environments where girls and young people can learn together, share knowledge, support one another and develop leadership skills. Trained peer mentors support fellow learners through academic assistance, mentorship, life-skills sessions and discussions on issues affecting their education and wellbeing.

Supporting Girls to Stay in School
We recognise that girls can face multiple barriers to education, including poverty, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, menstrual health challenges and harmful social norms.
PfW-WN works with girls, parents, schools and communities to address these barriers and create an enabling environment where girls can stay in school, complete their education and pursue their aspirations.
